Go West, Jordan Soles

If there's a place that's made for me
I doubt that it's in Grande Prairie
Cuz I'm melding right into the walls
And you're telling me that I should leave
Oh god, that's all I need
So I hung around a while
That's 20 years of staring back
At a province where I thought I saw
Golden rivers turning black
I don't know, I can't go home
These dirty lives and prairie lines Are all I know
So take me back
Aa far west as we can go
No we don't feel it
When the feelings change
No we don't feel so strange

We wake up to the sound
Of feet beneath the ancient ground
But we don't understand what's really going on
We wake up to the sound
Of the prairies roaring underground
But we don't understand what's really going wrong
Don't you say that your heart's in the mountains
It's right here in the dirt and the ashes
Don't you forget you'll be hangin around here awhile
Say a prayer
For my friends and everybody there
I used to think that we
Could believe in things and only things
That were fastened to the roots of this ancient floor
I used to believe
We could believe in anything
Now I cannot feel that way anymore
This town has turned me grey
And old and worn from wasted days
And soon it will be swallowed into the earth where it came
Say a prayer
For my friends and everybody there
there's something in the air
And i feel sick yeah i feel sick and i feel scared
But no one minds or cares
there's something in the air
And i feel sick yeah i feel sick and i feel scared
But no ones minds or cares

Flyingshot Lake

I drove down to another place another useless lake when I was 17
And I buried my heart those years ago on a patch of land that you've never seen
There's something alive in my chest that goes by a different name
I feel that it's just the eyes of the ones that I love but they don't feel the same
I don't think I sleep enough
So why are all my dreams of this house?
A train's coming for the rest of us
We'll leave this place out of touch
I lost where my connections lie, now that it's been years since I've seen your face
Now I know that I have done my time, it's the final spike in the railway
There's something alive at the bottom of flyingshot lake
But we know that it's just a lie to keep us far away from that place

Trumpeter Swans

In my dream
They completed the railway
From Alberta to BC
In the year
year of 1923
There was much rejoicing
They held a celebration
From all across the prairies
We were arriving at the station
To the laughter of old farmers
A violin and a tambourine
We saw a group of trumpeter swans
As we danced along the Wapiti
And we knew we would all sleep safely
